Our Story Begins at Home
When you live and work in a place as close knit as Muskegon, your reputation becomes part of the story you build each day. For us, that story started simply, with a belief that a local company could serve neighbors with genuine care, steady workmanship, and a level of honesty that feels more like a conversation at the kitchen table than a sales pitch. From that belief, Amp Electric Heating and Air was born in 2009, and it has shaped our approach ever since.

Katie’s background took a different route, though the heart behind her work aligned perfectly with Joe’s. She spent her early career teaching middle school math and Spanish, a role that demanded patience, organization, and clear communication. Those same strengths became invaluable when she joined Amp full time in 2016. Katie now oversees both the front office and the behind the scenes operations that keep each day running smoothly. She is the person who makes sure customers feel heard, schedules stay steady, and the entire team has what they need to serve families well. Together, Joe and Katie bring a balance of vision and steady planning that keeps Amp grounded in its values.
Growing with Intention, Not Speed
Amp began as a residential and light commercial electrical company, and for several years that was our sole focus. Joe always had a long term vision of adding heating and cooling services, not to expand for expansion’s sake, but to give homeowners a single trusted team they could rely on for the systems that matter most. When your furnace stops on the coldest night or your air conditioner quits during a heatwave, you want to call someone who already knows your home and respects your time. Bringing electrical and HVAC services together allowed us to serve our community more completely and more consistently.
Our growth has been steady and careful. We choose each team member thoughtfully. We train methodically, plan intentionally, and never rush the process of building lasting skill. We believe that great service takes time to grow, and we would rather do it right than do it fast. That is part of the reason families across Muskegon, Kent, and Ottawa counties trust us with their homes year after year.

Joe and Katie have built their life and business here in West Michigan. They are raising three daughters, spending summer days swimming and biking, and camping whenever they get the chance.
